EVALUATION ACTIVITY 2 - Vianca

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Comparison between my protagonist and a real protagonist

My protagonist reminds me of Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) from 'Prison Break: The Final Break'. Here are some similarities and differences between the two:

SIMILARITIES
  • Both smart - The intention of Ethan (my protagonist) using gloves was to show that he had planned his actions and knows exactly what he's doing, like Michael, he'd planned everything he does and covers his tracks.
  • Both had agendas - Ethan's agenda was to get revenge, Michael was to save his pregnant girlfriend, Sarah.
  • Both characters had something done to them to motivate their future actions - Ethan's wife been killed and Michael needs to get back to prison.
  • Same ethnicity - White characters
DIFFERENCES
  • Age range - Michael is clearly much older
  • Dialogue - Michael speaks more frequently than Ethan

Comparison between my detective and a real detectives
My detective could be compared with Dignam (Mark Wahlberg) from 'The Departed' (2006, Scorsese). Here are some similarities and differences between the two:

SIMILARITIES

  • Both into their job
  • Both want to get to the bottom of their tasks
  • Both well-informed before detecting

DIFFERENCES

  • Dialogue - Dignam is much ruder than Ciaran was
  • Age range - Dignam is older

Here is a power point showing how our opening represent social groups, considering the technological terminologies!
