What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
CANON DSLR 650 E0S
Advantages:
-We were able to obtain good quality footage.
-We had a range of different lenses which enabled us to achieve very clear visuals. We were also able to adjust the focus which helped in the quality of the footage. Our footage was able to look more professional.
-We learnt how to adjusts the lighting and make sure that the camera would pick up the white colour in the environment in terms of white balance.
-It was used in the production stage whilst filming.
-the camera itself is very portable and so made it easier to transport or shift to different areas whilst filming.
Disadvantages:
-The camera mic was very weak and it didn't initially pick up much of the sound very well.
-The different settings on the camera was difficult to grasp but we got the gist of it.
-We found it rather challenging as the camera is not water resistant and the setting for our thriller was very wet and rainy.
-The battery pack ran out very quickly as filming was a very long process but we managed to complete all of the filming in one day.
-Overall i really enjoyed learning about this camera. Learning how to adjust settings such as sound, white balance and lighting was quite tricky at first but i got the hang of it. It was very interesting and helped me to get a better insight into how photographers and other professionals use high quality cameras.
MICROPHONE
Advantages:
-It was a new and professional mic so it was an interesting experience when testing it out and seeing the difference in sound.
-It was very easy to attach and detach for the most part.
-We were able to achieve retsina sound and educe the background noises.
Disadvantages:
-The mic wasn't able to totally block out the background noise we had to mute our footage as a last resort which wasn't ideal.
-Sometimes the mic plug would come out of the camera without anyone noticing and we had to reshoot the footage.
-This was definitely essential to our final product because it enhanced the dialogue and initial sound giving a higher quality. Also it was something that was interesting the experience and seeing the difference in sound quality was very interesting.
IMAC
Advantages:
-Was a massive help from the beginning our my media experience as i find that the iMacs are very easy and straightforward to use.
-iMacs have auto-save so we were assured that all of our hard work wasn't deleted if there was a technical problem with the computer.
-We were able to access al of the initial sites and oft wares to help us with our media education overall.
Disadvantages:
-Sometimes certain sites on the computer would be very slow and would not let us access our blogs effectively because everyone in the class would be using it at the same time.
-I was very grateful for the use of the iMacs because i find them so much more easier to use unlike other types of computers. it was easy to access things and was very quick and efficient. we used these to transport all our footage onto and open on final cut pro and it was an easy process.
FINAL CUT PRO
Advantages:
-Final cut pro was the best learning experience next to the cameras because it was very fun to learn how to edit and cut footage together.
-it enabled us to manipulate the three aspects of what the audience hears, sees and
-It enabled our work to look way more professional.
Disadvantages:
-Sometimes it would be incredibly slow which really put pressure on us when we didn't have much time.
-Initially it was very hard o get the hang of because i had never had experience using it.
-Using final cut pro was my favourite experience as it was very fun learning the basics. i just wish i had more experience using it and learning more about it. it was especially interesting seeing how you add sound effects and transitions and change the actual lighting and effects of the actual footage.
BLOGGER
Advantages:
-We used it as a reciprocal to hold all of research on the film industry.
-It was the first time using a blog so it was a interesting and new experience.
-Easy to chronologically manipulate the order in which i would like to oder them.
-It was easy to actually figure out the options when creating a new blog.
-Learnt about embedding links which was a new experience and a valuable thing to know for future reference. i used it for the group blog because i had initially used it on the individual blog.
Disadvantages:
-Initially, it was hard to grasp because the posts would appear in the wrong order and it was not very easy to understand.
-It was also vey frustrating when we wanted to put in images, they would lay where we wanted to them specifically. Therefore, we felt disadvantaged to an small extent as to how they are presented.
-Overall, using the blogger has been a very new and interesting experience that I have enjoyed very much. It has made me learn more about computer technologies and makes me feel accomplished that I am able to know how to use it.
SOUNDCLOUD
Advantages:
-It is very easily accessible.
-High quality sound so it is easy to understand exactly what is being said and who is saying it.
-Records in one take, which can be time-friendly.
-It looks very presentable.
- It is a very new interesting media platform to include in our research and coursework.Gives us a good variety.
Disadvantages:
-The fact that it records in one take can be a negative thing as you may wish you could cut and edit it so it were perfect but SoundCloud does not enable you to do that.
-It can be seen as limited as you aren't able to make real videos but only audio.
-Overall, using SoundCloud as one of my featured media platforms has been a very positive aspect as I have learnt about a new music platform and I have had experience in creating my own SoundCloud.
YOUTUBE
Advantages:
-You are enabled access to an unlimited number of YouTube videos and you are able to incorporate them into the blogs so it is very helpful as evidence/support when we want to include our own videos or use someone else's
to demonstrate examples of what we are trying to say.
Disadvantages:
-The only downside of Youtube is that all of the videos may not be of the highest quality which is very frustrating as we do not want to include bad quality things into the coursework. so this is very frustrating.
-Overall, YouTube has really benefitted our blog as if we didn't use it trying to upload our opening would be much more difficult as each member of the group would need to get a copy of the finished copy and upload it individually so we could all analyse the scenes etc separately.
