A production logo is a logo used by movie studios and television production companies to brand what they produce. Production logos are usually seen at the beginning of a theatrical movie or at the end to show audiences the people who produced the film.
Some examples of these are
Paramount is the fifth oldest surviving film studio in the world and America's oldest running studio, founded in 1912 by W.W Hodkinson, Adolph Zucker Jesse L. Lasky |
Dreamwork animation was founded in 2004 by Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Gefffen. Its feature films have grossed $13 billion worldwide (November 2014) |
Pixar animation studios was founded on February 3, 1986 ( |
Walt Dsiney pictures was founded on October 16, 1923(as Disney Bros. Cartoon Studio) by Walt Disney and Roy 0. Disney |
After researching a range of different production company logos I saw a pattern between them all. It was that less is more and that they are small, straightforward, bold and simple. Furthermore they have a basic design/ object in the background for the audience to remember. The logo needs to be eye catching and recognizable from competitors logos. Often many companies can use the logo as unique selling point which is an important marketing technique.
